From Polliwogs to Shellbacks "Crossing the Line" is a rite of passage for mariners who haven't crossed the equator before.
      The ceremony which turns Polliwogs into Shellbacks, is enjoyed much more by the Shellbacks than the "Wogs". During the ceremony, Polliwogs are made to go through a number of ordeals, each one more disgusting than the last.  These trials are conducted in full view of KING NEPTUNE and his court.
